Andrew Crimmel, DACM, L.OM

Andrew Crimmel graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania where he studied Philosophy, Cognitive Science, and Pre-med. During his undergraduate career, he worked in the Department of Psychiatry’s Bipolar Disorders Unit in both research and clinical capacities. He continued his medical education at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego where he graduated in 1999 with top honors in the first class to earn a Master of Science degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine and, after the establishment of national standards, his Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.

Andrew was first licensed to practice acupuncture by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine in 1999. In 2006, he became the third acupuncturist in the state to be awarded the L.OM license to practice the full spectrum of traditional Chinese medicine. Andrew brings his lifelong interest in Eastern culture and philosophy, meditation and the practice of the internal martial arts to his nearly two decades of acupuncture practice. He teaches Tai Chi/Qigong and has been invited to speak about health and traditional medicine to audiences including various support groups, University of Pittsburgh social workers, Penn State medical students and nursing Bachelor degree candidates. He is a member of UPMC PinnacleHealth's Integrative Cancer Committee and is currently working toward a collaborative treatment paradigm integrating acupuncture therapy with conventional oncological approaches to cancer treatment.
